Daily Prayers for June 24

O Lord, let my soul rise up to meet you

as the day rises to meet the sun.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,

as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.

Come, let us sing to the Lord : let us shout for joy to the Rock of our salvation.

Song “Magnificat”

I will enter your gates with thanksgiving : I will dance in your courts with praise.

Psalm 118:19 24

Open for me the gates of righteous-ness : I will enter them; I will offer thanks to the Lord.

“This is the gate of the Lord : he who is righteous may enter.”

I will give thanks to you, for you answered me : and have become my salvation.

The same stone which the builders rejected : has become the chief cornerstone.

This is the Lord’s doing : and it is marvelous in our eyes.

On this day the Lord has acted : we will rejoice and be glad in it.

I will enter your gates with thanksgiving : I will dance in your courts with praise.

Ezekiel 33:21 – 33 Acts 11:1 – 18

I will enter your gates with thanksgiving : I will dance in your courts with praise.

Mary Oliver’s poem “Praying” reads:

It doesn’t have to be

the blue iris, it could be

weeds in a vacant lot, or a few

small stones; just

pay attention, then patch

a few words together and don’t try

to make them elaborate, this isn’t

a contest but the doorway

into thanks, and a silence in which

another voice may speak.

Prayers for Others

Our Father

Lord, you have appointed some to be prophets; give us ears to hear and mouths to speak. You have appointed some to sing of your goodness in the streets; make us bold to celebrate you. You have called some to be still, listen, and act; give us steadiness of mind and singularity of purpose. Amen.

May the peace of the Lord Christ go with you : wherever he may send you;

may he guide you through the wilderness : protect you through the storm;

may he bring you home rejoicing : at the wonders he has shown you;

may he bring you home rejoicing : once again into our doors.
