Daily Prayers for June 3

O Lord, let my soul rise up to meet you

as the day rises to meet the sun.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,

as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.

Come, let us bow down and bend the knee : let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.

Song “I Will Trust in the Lord”

Pour out your Spirit, Lord : that we might dream your dream.

Psalm 17:1 3, 8 9

Hear my plea of innocence, O Lord; give heed to my cry : listen to my prayer, which does not come from lying lips.

Let my vindication come forth from your presence : let your eyes be fixed on justice.

Weigh my heart, summon me by night : melt me down; you will find no impurity in me.

Keep me as the apple of your eye : hide me under the shadow of your wings,

from the wicked who assault me : from my deadly enemies who surround me.

Pour out your Spirit, Lord : that we might dream your dream.

Deuteronomy 4:15 – 24 Acts 2:1 – 21

Pour out your Spirit, Lord : that we might dream your dream.

William Booth, co-founder of the Salvation Army, said, “While women weep, as they do now, I’ll fight; while children go hungry, as they do now, I’ll fight; while men go to prison, in and out, in and out, as they do now, I’ll fight; while there is a drunkard left, while there is a poor lost girl upon the streets, while there remains one dark soul without the light of God, I’ll fight — I’ll fight to the very end!”

Prayers for Others

Our Father

Lord, grant us courage to fight the good fight by treating everybody right. Amen.

May the peace of the Lord Christ go with you : wherever he may send you;

may he guide you through the wilderness : protect you through the storm;

may he bring you home rejoicing : at the wonders he has shown you;

may he bring you home rejoicing : once again into our doors.
